The Pedigree is the ancestral record of a dog in an official document issued by an internationally recognized organization such as the Dominican Canine Federation and where they appear who are their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents with the 14 ascendants in the three generations.
The pedigree establishes and certifies the purity of breeds so that the dog can intervene in national and international selection and conformation exhibitions.
The pedigree is not only to certify that our dog is the son of such and such a champion, but that it has a much greater importance. It is the only way to ensure that the dog is purebred and will preserve the characteristics of its species, thus avoiding not only unexpected variations in its structure and beauty, but also possible malformations and future health problems. It also gives us information about the breeder where the dog came from, tattoo or microchips, etc. It also serves to know if two dogs are close relatives or not, in the case that we are planning a crossing.
Many times we feel attracted to a Race and we forget the size and weight that the puppy will reach as an adult. We should stop to think about our lifestyle like that if you are a calm person, live in an apartment and have children you should choose a small and quiet breed like a Yorkshire, West Highland White Terrier, Poodle, Pug, etc. Sportsman and dynamic person and has garden could opt for larger breeds that need more exercise such as Boxer, Labrador, German Shepherd etc.
To request an Afijo or Name of Cattery you must fill the following requirements:
1- Own a dog, which is registered in the Book of Origins of the Dominican Canine Federation (CDF).
2- Fill out an application for Affix Registration (this request can be sent by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org)
3- Make the payment corresponding to this procedure of RD $ 1,000.00 to the CDF
After complying with these three requirements the CDF will proceed to process your affix which can be approved or rejected according to availability. The applicant can only use his requested affix when he receives the letter of approval and authorization of use of the Dominican Canine Federation.
